Comprehensive customization necessitated a complete overhaul of the existing media room along with the replacement of outdated automation, audio, and lighting systems. These were upgraded with advanced solutions, including a full-scale Control4 automation system, color-controllable home theater lighting, ‘invisible’ speakers, multiple Samsung The Frame TVs, a 150-inch retractable Screen Innovations projection screen, several Luma surveillance cameras, and more." After receiving the command, a Control4 CORE3 Entertainment and Automation Controller, discreetly stowed out of sight, triggers the Screen Innovations projection screen to retract quietly into the ceiling, revealing an 85-inch wall-mounted Samsung framed TV. Simultaneously, newly installed smart LED lights brighten, and motorized window shades, rise, inviting natural light into the room. A sophisticated collection of Focal speakers, concealed behind specially engineered acoustical wall panels and recessed flush with the ceiling, stands ready to envelop the audience in immersive, three-dimensional sound.

At any time, the owners can add their choice of color to the environment, courtesy of RGB tape lighting discreetly installed around the acoustical panels and lining the perimeter of the cove ceiling. Remarkably, the dramatic transformation is orchestrated by a single command from a custom-programmed Control4 Halo remote. Equally impressive is the time the integrators took to design and execute this stunning transitional, multi-functional entertainment space — just 10 days!

The convenience and cool-factor of the new-and-improved media room inspired further modernization across the entire house. “Better lighting is a great starting point, as it impacts every aspect of day-to-day living,” Ras says. A dimming system was already in place, but the keypads for push-button control were mismatched and exhibited wear and tear. Daisy Orange County made quick work of replacing the antiquated eyesores with sleek, elegant models for a cohesive aesthetic that complements the home’s clean, contemporary style. To enhance functionality, the Control4 processor responsible for relaying commands from the original keypads to specific light fixtures was upgraded and reprogrammed to the owners’ preferences and to accentuate elements of the freshly designed interior. Control4 was chosen for this project due to its ability to seamlessly integrate and control multiple smart home functions — lighting, audio, video, and security — through a single, intuitive platform. While the keypad swap was relatively straightforward, installing speakers throughout the house showcased Daisy Orange County’s meticulous attention to detail. Control4’s newest video intercom, the DS2, was mounted near the front door for enhanced security and convenience.
